- 20/20 EYECARE was established in 2005 by Dr. Smitesh J. Patel, however, it was planned many years prior. When Dr. Patel graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2000, he had envisioned starting a state-of-the-art, high quality private practice. He began his career with a local chain store until the right opportunity was available. 20/20 EYECARE has grown into one of the largest and most successful independent practices of optometry in the region. 20/20 EYECARE is a clinical investigator research site and has conducted many FDA clinical trials to develop new contact lens designs. The eye center also serves as a training center for optometric students from the UAB School of Optometry.

I purchase my eyeglass here and all was good until I needed them repaired. I called and all at once I could no longer reach anyone. I tried to explain that my glasses fell off my face and one of the lenses scratched. I also explained that I was on vacation and would not be back for about 3 weeks or so and asked if I could mail them in to get repaired and all of a sudden no reply and the phone said they were not available. I thought something was wrong with my phone so I call Verizon and they told me that my number had been blocked. All I want is my glasses repaired. This is crazy. I need them. I do not see a problem with me mailing them in and them mailing them back with the lens repair.
Staff was amazing and very knowledgable.. My 8 year old daughter also had her eyes checked and they were all very good with her. She loved Dr. Patel!!
I got an exam back in August of 2016/great service/came back in because the glasses was making me dizzy and nausea sign in and sat in the front for 30 min no one ask can I help or if I have been helped /left after 45 I don't know if this was a bad day or if I was invisible
My 17 yr old son has been getting his eye exam and eye wear at 20/20 Eye Care since 2011. Service was great back then and still great when we visited on 12/06/16. Got a great price on his eye wear! After an initial bad experience, the manager of the office corrected the situation and we have since returned on more than one occasion. The manager is EXCELLENT, and so is this Dr office.
I love the optometrist. He caught stuff that no other eye care specialist could.
