Dr. Hsu received his undergraduate education at MIT, where he double-majored in Mechanical Engineering and Biology, and he subsequently received a Masters of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering at MIT. He attended medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and received his Internal Medicine residency training at UCSF Medical Center.
