I took my 05 Impala to them to repair my transmission and what a excellent job they did. Stephen quote a excellent price and they did a excellent job repairing my transmission in a timely manner and kept me updated with their process, I highly recommend to anyone who needs their car check and repair to go to Bert Gene Brown on Old Perrin Beitel Rd. They have my 5 star rating.

I was looking for a shop to take a look at and service my elderly mother's Honda Odyssey van. I called Bert. He is highly personable and took complete ownership of surveying the van and completing the work. It was serviced top to bottom. The entire process was completely professional - Bert even took the van to an inspection shop for us since I live out of town. This is the shop you are looking for. Jim

Regarding RIPOFF Review by Travis C on 2/4/15

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Travis. At Bert’s Gene Brown Transmission we encourage our clients to openly communicate any and all concerns regarding, price, quality and customer service issues. Therefore we are surprised that you did not bring this to our attention earlier so that we could address it as soon as possible. With all due respect, the cost of the transmission was $1500 exactly- not $1800 and you paid an additional $165 to have work performed on the drive shaft. The only item that comes to mind on your transmission that may have been siliconed is the governor cap. The application of silicone is standard procedure in sealing the governor cap to prevent leakage. Originally we repaired your transmission on February 13, 2013 which was 24 months ago. The repair had a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. To date your warranty has already been expired one year. However, as you clearly stated in your review, Steve still offered to fix your issues although the warranty had been expired approaching a year. Our intentions to satisfy your complaint was evident and clear as we willingly made efforts to reach out to you. However when I made phone contact with you to resolve the issue, you strongly rejected my request to allow Steve to join our conversation for the purpose of achieving complete clarity on the situation and you then ended the phone call. Your refusal to allow Steve to participate in an effort to resolve this issue has rendered a solution to your complaint unattainable. However, should you reconsider to take us up on our offer, we are ready and willing to stand behind our work. Please call the shop at 210-637-5555 and ask for me, Bert, directly. Once again thank you, Travis.

*******Updated Response: February 7, 2015******* Hello Travis, my purpose for reaching out to you was not to create a situation that would produce an argument. The purpose of Steve being a party to the call was not for him to rebuttal you. It was for the purpose of Steve listening so he could get a complete understanding as to why you are dissatisfied since he offered to fix your issue even a yr out of warranty. I even assured you there would be no communication between you and Steve. No argument nor rebuttal from Steve will be allowed. Once again I ended my first response by offering you an open invitation should you choose to take me up on my offer. Please contact me personally. You have nothing to loose. Bring your truck so that I can check it out and test drive it. Also, please bring your receipt showing what's been repaired or replaced along with proof of payment so that we can determine an amicable agreement. It's that simple. My offer stands for 72 hours. Once again, please feel free to contact me. Thank you, Travis.

Decided to go to Bert's Gene Brown after reading the positive reviews. Seemed to have a good handle on things and my buddy recommended them. Steve was great to work with. He was a straight shooter and didn't b.s. me about my car and recommended I get a second opinion on my transmission for my camero. After getting a second opinion I decided to come back. They took the time to get my transmission right and even washed my car. I highly recommend Bert's Gene Brown transmission if you want a no b.s. experience. Hard to trust shops now-a-days but I definitely am happy with these guys. Thanks again!

RIPOFF

is guy "Steve" is a silver tongue smooth talking, swindler!DON'T use these guys, you'll regret it..They "rebuilt" my Trans and it cost me 1800$! It's a 600$ trans! Once I got it back, they siliconed a 20$ part back in instead of replacing it,transmission leaks from EVERYWHERE..Called him and all he wants to do is argue with you,but he will offer to fix it,but I done that twice and same result, plus your without your car for 2wks everytime. Now I just pulled it myself to discover they didn't even replace the races in the pump or stator! THAT'S what ya get for 1800$#!!????Most people don't know enough to know they are shorting ya on repairs, but he is a smooth talker..And all their reviews are fake, just like his "customer service"..After your "repairs",take it to a reputable mechanic and find where ya got screwed!

Overall, I was satisfied with the work done on my transmission. I did have to take it back under the warrenty a couple of weeks later to resolve an issue which just happened to be a fluke. The staff was very professional and kept me informed well of what was going on and even replaced a few things at no cost to me. I would recommend this place to others.

Awsome Service

Berts Gene Brown is a great place. My car broke and they gave me a free tow and free diagnostic of the problem, and on top of that they gave me a car to use until the problem was fixed free of charge!!!! It was a great experience, and the price wasn't too expensive. I am sure I could of found a cheaper job somewhere in town, but the quality of work on the honesty of the shop was worth every penny!
