Great seafood at a bargain price

I have eaten lunch at this La Playa location at least monthly for several years now. Their food is delicious and reasonable priced. Where else can you get a seafood lunch special for $5.99? My favorite is the Filete Flameado which is a fish, shrimp, garlic, and cheese delight. I cringed at the other review posted about the "reused" shrimp cocktail and I have to say I was surprised. The food is always fresh and I would be disappointed if that really happened.

Take a look at the El Salvadorean section of the menu and be sure to order a pupusa. I recommend the shrimp and cheese. Here's your chance to also try the authenic fried platains with cream and beans. Beware of anything that says mojo de ojo (drenched in garlic) because it could be overwhelming. I recall my mouth was almost numb from all the garlic on the fish I once tried. Mexican food is served here as well, but it would be a sin to not eat seafood at this restaurant.

The staff is always friendly, efficient, and usually willing to explain some of the foreign items on the menu.

Get there by 11:30 on Friday's during the Lenten Season or you will not find parking or an available table.

WOW, GREAT FOOD

I HAVE LIVED IN SAN ANTONIO OFF AND ON FROM 1987 AND ON. I HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY AND HAVE TRAVELED THE WORLD AND HAVE EATEN SEAFOOD AND FOOD FROM THE PHILLIPINES TO SOUTH AMERICA. LA PLAYA SEAFOOD IS BY FAR THE BEST AND FRESHEST SEAFOOD YOU WILL EVER HAVE IN YOUR ENTIER LIFE. EVERYTHING THEY SERVE THE IS THE FINEST QUALITY AND THE FRESHEST TASTE AND FLAVOR. I PERSONALY LOVE THE COMBINATION PLATE THAT COMES WITH THE FRIED FROG LEGS. YES, THATS CORRECT FROG LEGS. NOW, NOT ONLY DO THEY HAVE GREAT SEAFOOD DISHES, THE DO HAVE MENU SELECTIONS THAT ARE EXACTLY WHAT YOU WOULD GET IN HOME CONTRIES. FOR EXAMPLE, THEY HAVE A PORTION OF THE MENU THAT IS NOTHING BUT PLATES FROM HONDURAS. NOW, MY WIFE IS FROM HONDURAS AND THE CHICKEN PLATE THAT THE SERVE THERE SHE STATES IS JUST LIEK IF NOT BETTER THAN WHAT YOU WILL FIND DIRECTLY IN HONDURAS. THEY ALSO FETURE PLATES FROM EL SALVADOR AS WELL. TO TOP EVERYTHING OFF THERE PRICES ARE THE BEST IN TOWN. FOR THE QUALITY AND AMOUNT OF FOOD THAT YOU GET IT IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST DEAL IN TEXAS. ALSO, THERE AGUAS DE FRESCAS ARE TOP NOTCH. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE FULL AND KEEP THE COST TO AN MINIMUM. A FAMILY OF FOUR COULD EASILY EAT THERE FOR UNDER THIRTY DOLLARS AND HAVE TO TAKE HOME FOOD.
